Our Story
With a history of over 65 years, Graceland Tea Factory has been one of the pioneers in the low grown tea industry in Sri Lanka. In a industry where new comers pop up regularly, Graceland has kept to their promise of high quality teas from the year 1956 and to date that promise is fulfilled to customers all over the world.
Founded in 1954 by late Mr. U. Kodithuwakku, the business employs over 100 full time and casual staff with latest machinery to make high quality teas. Graceland holds a 5-S Star rating awarded by the Sri-Lankan Tea Board and process over 180000kg of green tea leaf and produce over 35000kg of Black tea per month.
The business is vertically integrated with our own green leaf estates, company owned transport fleet etc. While majority of the teas manufactured are sold via the Colombo Tea Auction, the remaining is sold in the local retail and wholesale market from our company owned shop.
Our teas have regularly obtained yearly top prices for various grades of tea in the Colombo Tea Auction and has built a lasting reputation among all the major exporters of tea in Sri Lanka.
Our marks Graceland and Lankaland have been symbols of quality year after year and keeps the promise to date. With a dedicated, well trained and loyal work force backed by a efficient management team, Graceland Tea Factory is poised for success for decades to come. The business is currently in the midst of obtaining ISO 22001 to face the future with most confidence.
GRACELAND TEAS
We grow our own green leaf tea in our family own land producing over 20000kg over green tea leafs per month. We also have over 250 suppliers of green tea in our books, mainly local residents with small to medium tea plantations. Our current turnover is over 1.5 million US dollars annually.
In 2008 the factory was re-furbished with an investment of over 12 million rupees and we have obtained the prestigious 5-S Star rating awarded by the Sri-Lankan Tea Board.
